Thanksgiving is almost here, and with it come to the thoughts of food, family and fun!
This is the time of year I always think back to when we celebrated Thanksgiving at my grandparents’ house. Even though we had a large family, everyone made a point to show up. There was always a lot of food and the house was too hot and crowded, but everyone enjoyed themselves. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed visiting with relatives we hadn’t seen in a while, which is the part I always looked forward to the most.
As the years passed, my family found it more and more difficult to make time for keeping up those traditions. Many relatives moved away and everyone has such busy schedules nowadays. We are lucky just to see our immediate family, let alone all of the aunts, uncles, and cousins! Perhaps I’m just getting older and more reflective, but I miss those days! Like everyone else, we now have kids living in different states with busy schedules of their own.
It’s not easy to get together for the holidays. So whenever you get the chance, be sure to spend some time with your family and friends during the holiday season and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
