My family has been involved with Scouting ever since my Father was a Cub Scout. My wife, Candice, and I both grew up in Scouting and now my boys, Nathan and Braden, are in Scouting. Scouting is so much more than just camping. It taught us skills which are not easily obtained elsewhere. Leadership and self-confidence are just a couple of skills my boys are learning. In my Scout Troop, I often tell them Scouting is more than just rank and merit badges, it's all about the experiences! Even if you didn't reach the highest rank of Eagle Scout, but you still had a blast, that is the most important thing.
Nathan my oldest son is with Troop 123 in Orion, IL and was recently promoted to First Class Scout from patrol leader. So far he is loving it and enjoys going to summer camp where we all have a great time! Braden, my youngest son, is a Cub Scout is in pack 136 in Colona, IL and so far loves pack hikes where he eats all the trail food within the first hour. I'm an Assistant Scoutmaster in my oldest son's troop and an adult leader for my younger son's pack. I also teach the truck transportation and traffic safety merit badge at truck shows and merit badge universities across the country. I enjoy teaching the merit badges at Don Hummer Trucking where I get to see the enjoyment of the employees when they see the Scouts learning and asking questions. I think Scouting is a great organization to be a part of and if you have any question call me at 309-912-8412.
