On the Road with Chris (3 of 3)

Drivers have plenty of technology available to them today. Small screens and limited Wi-Fi can make it more difficult to access data, but there are some great tools out there. Apps such as Weigh My Truck, myPilot and Transflo+ can make life on the road more convenient. GPS navigation is another great tool but it should never be used without a good understanding of verified directions and some additional research.

There is also a great deal of technology in the trucks themselves. Things such as automated transmissions, traction control, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and collision avoidance work together to make life easier and safer. With all the modern technology, the powertrains are performing better than ever by delivering good power and fuel economy.

Taking all of this into consideration, it makes me wonder why drivers would run for companies that use bad equipment? And more importantly, why do customers load that equipment?

Drivers work very hard. It is unfortunate that people in cars mostly ignore truckers unless they are perceived as being in the way. There is little realization that the trucker they are driving alongside is likely bringing them their next meal, parts to build or repair their car, the mattress they sleep on, or even that recent Amazon purchase. Drivers play an important role in maintaining the quality of life everyone has come to expect. Thank you, drivers. Your hard work is appreciated.
