Spring Forward

Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday, March 12, bringing longer days, the start of spring, and warmer weather.  Don't forget to set your clocks ahead 1 hour!

Below are some fun facts regarding Daylight Saving Time:

  • Hawaii and most of Arizona do not observe DST.

  • Daylight Saving Time was first implemented in the U.S. during WW1 to save fuel by reducing the need for artificial lighting.

  • Countries located near the equator do not observe DST, as the daylight hours there do not vary with the seasons.

  • DST is a good reminder to put fresh batteries in warning devices such as smoke detectors and hazard warning radios.
