During the late 60’s and early 70’s, Allis-Chalmers debuted into the over the road truck market. The variable RPM in a truck engine was something that the lower end of this engine couldn’t handle and as a result crank and block failures became common. In the end, all owners were offered a new 250 Cummins and the "Big Al" became history!
