Compensation

How much do you pay?

You earn up to 40 cents per mile for all dispatched delivered miles.

What do I have to do to earn the maximum pay per mile?

As long as you are accident free, drive safely, have on-time deliveries and follow government and company policies, you will be paid 39 cents per dispatched delivered mile once you have successfully completed the 90 day introductory period, plus earn vacation pay (see next question). We take safety and customer service very seriously at Don Hummer Trucking.  A portion of the 39 cent compensation includes a safety and performance related bonus.  There is a potential for bonus loss for accidents and non-compliance; however, 98% of our drivers earn the maximum every payroll.

What about vacation pay?

On the next paycheck after your anniversary date, you are paid 1 cent for all dispatched delivered miles during the previous twelve months.  As your years-of-service with our company grows, so does your vacation pay!  Years 6 – 9 you will receive 1.5 cents and Years 10+ you will receive 2 cents per dispatched mile.  As long as you are under active dispatch, you will be paid vacation.

How often do you pay?

We pay every other Friday.  Direct deposit is available to you so you do not need to worry about getting your paycheck deposited right away.

Do I get paid for orientation?

Yes, we pay your lodging/meal expenses during our two-day orientation.  Plus we pay you a $150 bonus for successful completion of the orientation process.

How much can I earn?

Many of our drivers make over $50,000 per year.  In 2013, our highest earning solo driver grossed $71,700.   Our top team grossed $114,000 in 2013.
